Welcome to My Mumbai
Aamchi Mumbai!!!
It is located at the tip of Apollo Bunder near South Mumbai. It overlooks the Arabian sea and the Mumbai Harbor. The best time to come here is at night as the whole place is lighted with yellow lights and the Hotel Taj next to it, looks colossal at night.
The Gateway of India was built in the year of 1924 to mark the grandeur of the British Raj. It is also marked as one of India's chief ports. The total cost to make this gate was 21 lakhs. This gate was built to pay tribute to the visit of King George V and Queen Mary. It took four years to build this monument. It has the height of 83 feet. This is the gate from where the last troop of Britishers left India in the year of 1948.
The most famous thing to do around Gateway of India is to catch a ferry or a motor boat and go to visit the Elephanta caves. One of the most famous caves in Mumbai.
