Welcome to My Mumbai
Aamchi Mumbai!!!
Girgaum Chowpatty Beach
Located at the Northern end of Marine Drive, this is one of the most famous beaches in India after Juhu beach and houses some of the most tasty chaat stalls. It runs from Wilson College to Mani Bhavan.
Every evening, this beach is crowded with people, food kiosks and ferries. The view of this beach in the evening can be related to that of a carnival. Tourists can also catch a glimpse of street plays and shootings over here. This beach is also known for it's Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. An explorer, Kumud Mehra, has said," Nobody who visits Mumbai would like to return back home without going to Chowpatty Beach because of its fame & name!!"
Introduction
Reviews
Many travellers have recommended to go during the time of the sunset as then view is just stunning.
A scout, Ajinkya Buradkaras:" ... we went to food stall which had variety of dishes like chat, icecreams, pav bhaji, etc."" ...we went on having various extra activities like water sports of motor boat, etc. Then we had calm time sitting on mattresses available on rent there."
The stalls over here serve local Mumbai dishes like Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, Chaats, drinks, etc. It is comletely safe to have chaat over here but you should check the water they use before eating. A 80-year old shop in Mangalwadi, Girgaum offers fast items for the nine days of Navratri. "Upvaas* items are huge on the menu. Also popular now are the faraali* misal thalipeeth* and pakodas*, served with nariyal* chutney."
